On October 26, 2024, at the Foreign Trade University, the Vietnam-Belgium Friendship Association (VBFA) in collaboration with the Centre for Foreign Economic Research Training and Consultancy (Feretco) organized a seminar titled “Managing Change in the Digital Transformation Process.”
The seminar aimed to provide a platform for experts, businesses, lecturers, and students to share knowledge and experiences in digital transformation, discuss effective management methods, and address challenges in the digital context. It also served as an opportunity to build and expand networks among organizations, associations, and businesses.
The seminar was attended by Dr. Nguyen Hong Quang, an expert, and lecturer in computer science at the International Francophone Institute, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Mr. Truong Anh Quan, Deputy Director of the Digital Transformation Strategy Institute; Mr. Ngo Quy Nham, Senior Consultant at Delta Technology and Management Consulting JSC; Dr. Nguyen Anh Tho, Director of the Vietnam National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Quang, President of The Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises of Rural Industries; Ms. Duong Thi Thu Lan, Deputy Director of the Lang Son Provincial Center for Continuing Education, Information Technology, and Foreign Languages; Mr. Cao Xuan Nhat, CEO of President Club, along with many other businesses, associations, and a large number of students and lecturers.
Representing the Organizing Committee were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan, Rector of the Foreign Trade University and Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam-Belgium Friendship Association; Dr. Nguyen Quoc Dinh, Acting Head of the Cooperation and External Relations Department, Phenikaa University, Vice President of the Association; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Thi Hien, Vice Rector of the Foreign Trade University; Dr. Nguyen Trong Hai, Director of the Feretco Center; Dr. Vu Thi Hanh, Deputy Director of the Feretco Center, and Executive Board member of the Association.
In his opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan welcomed and thanked the delegates, speakers, and guests for attending the seminar. He emphasized that this event is not only a place for exchange but also a forum for sharing experiences on digital transformation in Vietnam. Through the seminar, he hoped that speakers and guests would have opportunities to exchange perspectives, explore effective management methods, and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the era of rapid technological development.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan expressed his honor in the presence of leading experts and hoped that the ideas and solutions shared would be beneficial to the work of the delegates.
Dr. Nguyen Trong Hai also emphasized the importance and significance of organizing the seminar for working students to connect theoretical knowledge with practical skills to enhance the quality of education. According to Mr. Hai, the seminar is a forum for speakers, scientists, and students to share and discuss initiatives for choosing business models, changes in human resource management, and leadership commitment in the digital transformation process in a world full of uncertainties.
Dr. Nguyen Hong Quang, with his presentation on “Proper use and development of open-source resources for autonomous and sustainable digital transformation,” highlighted the importance of open-source resources in reducing dependence on foreign solutions, thereby helping Vietnamese businesses become more autonomous and flexible in the digital transformation process. He also proposed effective methods for exploiting open-source resources to achieve sustainable development in the long term.
Mr. Truong Anh Quan shared about “The role of the underlying data architecture in the digital transformation process,” presenting the importance of a solid data system built on a modern architecture to support digital transformation activities. According to him, a robust and highly integrated data system will help businesses maximize the benefits of digital transformation.
For his part, Mr. Ngo Quy Nham – senior consultant and trainer at DeltaTMC, presented common challenges when organizing and deploying digital transformation, especially in changing mindsets and adapting to new technologies. He proposed effective change management methods, focusing on the role of leadership, skill development, and coordination among departments to ensure the success of a business’s digital transformation process.
After the presentations, the guests asked questions and contributed opinions on issues related to digital transformation in business management, data management, and information technology. The speakers and participants had in-depth discussions about the challenges and opportunities that digital transformation brings, highlighting effective management methods in the context of digital transformation.
This seminar provided a wealth of valuable information, opening up new directions for managing change in organizations and businesses, and marking a significant step forward in the digital transformation journey of Vietnamese economic sectors.
