On October 26, 2024, at the Foreign Trade University, the Vietnam–Belgium Friendship Association (VBFA), in collaboration with the Research, Training and Consulting Center for Foreign Economic Affairs (Feretco), organized a seminar titled “Change Management in the Digital Transformation Process.”

The seminar aimed to create opportunities for experts, businesses, lecturers, and students to share knowledge and experience in digital transformation, while also discussing effective management approaches and solutions to overcome challenges in the digital context. It also served as an occasion to build and expand networks among organizations, associations, and enterprises.
The seminar was attended by Dr. Nguyen Hong Quang – expert and lecturer in computer science at the International Francophone Institute, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Mr. Truong Anh Quan – Deputy Director of the Institute for Digital Transformation Strategy; Mr. Ngo Quy Nham – Chief Consultant at Delta Management and Technology Consulting JSC; Dr. Nguyen Anh Tho – Director of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Sciences under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour; Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Quang – Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Rural Small and Medium Enterprises; Ms. Duong Thi Thu Lan – Deputy Director of the Continuing Education, IT and Foreign Languages Center of Lang Son Province; Mr. Cao Xuan Nhat – CEO of President Club, along with representatives from various enterprises and associations, as well as a large number of students and lecturers.
On the side of the organizing committee, participants included Associate Professor Dr. Bui Anh Tuan, Rector of Foreign Trade University and Standing Vice President of the Vietnam–Belgium Friendship Association; Dr. Nguyen Quoc Dinh – Acting Head of External Relations at Phenikaa University and Vice President of the Association; Associate Professor Dr. Vu Thi Hien – Vice Rector of Foreign Trade University; Dr. Nguyen Trong Hai – Director of the Feretco Center; and Dr. Vu Thi Hanh – Deputy Director of the Feretco Center and member of the Association’s Executive Committee.
In his opening remarks, Associate Professor Dr. Bui Anh Tuan welcomed and expressed his gratitude to all delegates, speakers, and guests for attending the seminar. He emphasized that the event was not only a place for networking but also a forum for sharing experiences in digital transformation in Vietnam. Through the seminar, he hoped that speakers and guests would have the opportunity to exchange perspectives, explore effective management approaches, and gain deeper insights into the challenges and opportunities in an era of rapid technological development.
He also expressed his honor at the presence of leading experts and hoped that the ideas and solutions shared would be valuable for the participants’ work.
Dr. Nguyen Trong Hai also highlighted the importance and significance of the seminar for part-time students in connecting theoretical knowledge with practical skills, thereby improving training quality. According to him, the seminar served as a platform for speakers, scientists, and students to exchange and discuss ideas related to business model selection, changes in human resource management, and leadership commitment in the digital transformation process in an increasingly uncertain global context.
Dr. Nguyen Hong Quang, in his presentation titled “Proper Use and Development of Open Source Resources for Autonomous and Sustainable Digital Transformation,” emphasized the importance of open-source resources in reducing dependence on foreign solutions, thereby enabling Vietnamese enterprises to become more autonomous and flexible in their digital transformation journey. He also proposed methods for effectively leveraging open-source technologies to achieve long-term sustainable development.
Mr. Truong Anh Quan shared insights on “The Role of Data Architecture in the Digital Transformation Process,” highlighting the importance of a solid data system built on modern architecture to support digital transformation activities. According to him, a well-integrated and strongly analytical data foundation enables businesses to maximize the benefits of digital transformation.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ngo Quy Nham – senior consultant and trainer at DeltaTMC – pointed out common challenges in implementing digital transformation, particularly in changing mindsets and adapting to new technologies. He proposed effective change management approaches, focusing on the role of leadership, skills development, and interdepartmental coordination to ensure the success of digital transformation in enterprises.

After the presentations by the speakers, guests asked questions and contributed opinions on issues related to digital transformation in corporate governance, data management, and information technology. The speakers and participants engaged in in-depth discussions about the challenges and opportunities brought by digital transformation, highlighting effective management approaches in the context of digital change.
This seminar provided valuable insights and opened up new directions for managing change within organizations and enterprises, marking an important step forward in the digital transformation journey of Vietnam’s economic sectors.
