The Prime Minister has instructed a review of the necessary conditions to promptly implement the roadmap for transitioning to biofuel (E10) in April this year, about two months ahead of the original schedule (June 1, 2026).
According to Mr. Bùi Ngọc Bảo, “Blending just 10% into over 26 million cubic meters/tons of gasoline annually would help replace a significant amount of fossil fuels. In the future, the blending ratio could be increased further to E15 or E20, making the reduction in dependence on imported mineral gasoline even more evident. For E10 biofuel to develop to its full potential, the decisive factor lies in policy mechanisms, particularly tax policies and costs. Removing current barriers is expected to create a strong boost, enabling the biofuel market to operate more effectively, thereby contributing to energy security and promoting the green transition of the economy.”
