According to the finalized list, the top 100 enterprises of PRIVATE 100 contributed a total of nearly VND 173,000 billion to the national budget in 2023. Among them, more than 30 companies had contributions exceeding VND 1,000 billion.

With the aim of recognizing the important role of the private sector in the economy, honoring and spreading the spirit of serving society among enterprises, CafeF has established PRIVATE 100 – a list of the top private companies contributing the most to Vietnam’s national budget.

PRIVATE 100, first announced on August 15, 2024, is compiled based on actual contributions during the fiscal year (12 months) ending between June 30, 2023, and March 31, 2024.

PRIVATE 100 includes a general list comprising all private enterprises contributing more than VND 100 billion and the Top 100 Leading Group (Private 100: Leading Group). In the Top 100, if a corporation has both parent and subsidiary companies meeting the criteria, only the parent company is ranked.

At least 4,000 billion VND is required to be in the top 10

The top 10 names are familiar private corporations, with half of them owned by dollar billionaires, including Vingroup, THACO, Hoa Phat, Techcombank, and Masan Group.

All 10 leading enterprises contributed more than VND 4,000 billion to the national budget, with Vingroup far surpassing the others, contributing VND 30,900 billion. The remaining companies in the Top 10 each contributed VND 4,000 billion or more.

Three enterprises related to the ecosystem of billionaire Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, including HDBank, Vietjet, and HD Securities, contributed a total of over VND 4,000 billion.

The private banking group has a total of 17 representatives in the Top 100, with a total contribution of nearly VND 42,000 billion. The top 10 private banks contributing to the national budget accounted for more than VND 36,800 billion, an increase of over VND 10,700 billion compared to 2022. Many banks saw their budget contributions double from the previous year, reaching thousands of billions.

The private real estate sector ranked second in contributions with over VND 37,000 billion, with seven companies contributing more than VND 1,000 billion each. If we include the data from large multi-sector corporations with real estate businesses like Vingroup, THACO, and Gelex, the total figure could exceed VND 50,000 billion.

The leading real estate companies in 2023 and 2024 generated large budget contributions in Hai Phong, where significant investments are being made by companies such as Vinhomes, Hoang Huy Group, and DOJILAND.

The consumer goods and retail sectors are also notable, with nearly 20 companies contributing over VND 21,000 billion. Among them, Masan Group contributed more than VND 4,400 billion; beer companies contributed nearly VND 6,000 billion, while other F&B (food and beverage) companies contributed over VND 70,000 billion, and retail businesses contributed VND 3,700 billion.

Within the retail segment, many companies made contributions of thousands of billions, including Mobile World Investment Corporation (MWG) and two leading jewelry retailers, PNJ and DOJI.

The securities sector also had a strong presence, with 15 companies on the PRIVATE 100 list. Three of these companies contributed over VND 1,000 billion. Though the technology sector had a modest number of large private companies, two companies—FPT and VNG—contributed over VND 1,000 billion.

Steel companies contributed nearly VND 12,000 billion, mainly from Hoa Phat.

In addition to these major sectors, the PRIVATE 100 list includes businesses from nearly all of the key industries in the economy.
